This wasn’t just a visit to see friends for the hubby and I. It was so much more and one person in particular had no idea what was coming.
The amount of planning was very minimal.
If you know the husband to be at all, you’d know he’s a VERYYYYYY go with the flow type of guy and let me just say.. my anxiety was high not hearing from him until two weeks prior to flying out. LOL
He then text me the week of and I don’t think I’ve been that nervous before a shoot in my entire career. (This was my first surprise engagement)
My nerves didn’t really hit until we landed in Colorado.
We knew a mountain backdrop for their Colorado engagement session was obviously the second priority here. We spent the afternoon hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park to get to our final destination at Dream Lake.
We had discussed using a keyword or phrase to let him know when the time was right. You know the photographers “OMG YAAS THIS IS GORGEOUS! HOW COULD ANYTHING BE AS PERFECT AS THIS?!” kinda thing.
I’ll admit I dropped the ball and didn’t give him the key word(s) LOL
… The moment she looked back at the mountains, I shook my head so fast and gave him a quick thumbs up before she saw me to let him know everything was good on my end.
Needless to say…
SHE SAID YAAAAAAS.
Then BA-DA-BING, BA-DA-BOOM. We freakin’ blinked and they were ENGAGED!!
We had people come out of the woods (swear they were not around the entire time we were acting our parts) cheering and applauding these two cuties. It sent chills to my bones. Such a surreal moment and I’m so damn honored to have been able to take their photos for them to cherish this moment for ever
Took a rock to The Rockies to make a dream come true at Dream Lake. *wink wink*
Promise — very minimal planning.
I mean come on, you can’t go wrong with a view like this.
Also, don’t mind the v appealing pose below. No, this was not staged. Friends be like dat sometimes. #WERK.
