Indiana University Engagement Photos

May 13, 2024

I absolutely loved taking these Indiana University engagement photos with Taylor and Dawson! The couple chose a spot that held meaning to their relationship, and I have to say, the results were stunning! Keep scrolling to see for yourself and learn my top tips for choosing an engagement photo location.

Meet Taylor and Dawson: The Couple Behind These Indiana University Engagement Photos

Taylor and Dawson were referred to me by not just one but TWO past clients! Seriously, when I got their inquiry, I was over the moon excited! Taylor is very close friends with both Maddie (check out her Grand Banquet Hall wedding here) and Regan (check out her romantic Estes Park elopement here) which is how she heard of me.

The couple is planning a micro destination wedding in Destin, Florida this September, and wanted to take some engagement pictures before the big day. We hopped on a call and as I got to know them, I learned they both had attended Indiana University. Naturally, I thought the IU campus was such a fitting location for their engagement session, and Taylor and Dawson agreed.

3 Ideas to Help You Choose an Engagement Session Location

When it comes to picking an engagement session location, some couples know exactly where they want to go, while others need a few suggestions. Here are some of my top tips when it comes to choosing a location for your engagement photos.

A Favorite Place

One of the best places to start when thinking about your engagement session location is places that you already love. This could be a location in your hometown or somewhere you’ve traveled to before. It could be a place that you find yourself going back to again each year, like your favorite lakehouse, or a park you love to walk around together.

A Place That Reflects Your Relationship or Personality

There are some locations that will always remind you of a special memory or time in your relationship. Some couples like to take engagement photos at the place where they first met or where they got engaged. For Taylor and Dawson, this was the place where they both went to college and experienced many shared memories.

Consider the Seasons

The different seasons can play a big part in choosing your engagement session location. Maybe your town comes alive during cherry blossom season, or you live in an area that bursts with color during autumn. Whatever that looks like for you, think about what kind of engagement session you’d like to have and which seasons will help bring that vision to life.
