Questions to Ask Photographers For Weddings: Ask For FULL Wedding Galleries!
Let’s be honest, you only see the best of the best on social media. So, to be sure that you’re choosing the right photographer for you, ask to see a couple of full galleries! This will allow you to see what a full day will look like through the lens of your photographer, and make sure that you’re hiring a photographer who will capture your day just as you envision it!
How Can I Secure my Wedding or Elopement Date?
This is extremely important! The moment you know your wedding date, you need to contact the photographer that you want to book ASAP! Whether it’s a wedding, an elopement, or an engagement session, our books fill up fast. I would hate to turn someone away because I’m no longer available for their date! Questions to Ask Photographers For Weddings: How Many Photos Can I Expect?
This is a great question to ask your wedding photographer! While every photographer is different, so is every love story! For that reason, I don’t put a number on my full galleries. Every story is documented so differently. With that being said, I average 400-600 photos per 10-hour wedding day! It’s always best to ask your photographer what they typically deliver. You can also review their portfolio to get an idea of what they deliver. Lastly, you should discuss your expectations with them so you’re all on the same page.
How Do You Keep Our Photos Safe From Being Deleted or Corrupt?
There are a number of ways photographers can keep your images safe from being deleted or corrupted. Usually photographers will back up photos to an external hard drive. This is a great way to ensure your photos are safe. Additionally, cloud storage services can be used to add even more protection. Plus, there are services that file sync to keep multiple copies of your photos in a multitude of different places. Because while you may be able to recreate an engagement session or couple session, you’ll NEVER be able to recreate those special moments from your wedding day! And as a photographer who respects your investment and your time, I would never let this happen! It’s so important that your photographer has a reliable way to protect your images from deletion or corruption.
Questions to Ask Photographers For Weddings: When & How do I Receive my Images?
You will likely receive your images from your photographer via a password-protected online gallery system such as PicTime, Pixieset, Pass Gallery, etc. This allows you to see your full edited gallery and download your photos! As far as turnaround time, this can vary for each photographer. My turnaround for normal sessions is 4-6 weeks. Weddings and elopements are 8-10 weeks during the busy season. However, I always communicate with my couples and let them know if there is a delay in the midst of busy season!
