As a wedding photographer myself whose been in the wedding industry for quite some time now, I have practically seen it all. Like seriously!

My goal for you and for all of my couples is to have a stress-free wedding planning process. I mean, this is one of the most magical seasons of your life so it should be nothing short of perfection, am I right? And with a few tips, I’m about to share, it can be just that. Wedding planning doesn’t have to be an all-consuming beast. It can be really enjoyable if done and handled right!

So, if you’d like to read more about the top 5 tips for planning a wedding, scroll down below for more!

01. HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER

If it’s within budget for you, I highly recommend you hire a wedding planner. Your wedding planner will be your best friend during this hectic time. Wedding planners are an investment but will help you with any questions you might have or things you need help getting done. They are an expert in the field and a great point of contact for any uncertainties and smoothing out any bumps in the road. Trust me, your future self will thank you.

02. PLAN A BUDGET

Plan a budget!! Even if you’re not too worried about the cost, plan a budget. This is so important because weddings can get very expensive and you should want to be able to get the best bank for your buck. Have a discussion with your partner and your wedding planner about a budget so everything you book will be in that cost range. It’ll be way easier narrowing down vendors when you have a budget in place.

03. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE

Procrastinating is the worst thing you can do when planning your wedding. You cannot procrastinate whatsoever because vendors get booked up so quickly. If your vendors are booked for your wedding day, you will have a very hard time finding good vendors. I suggest starting your planning and bookings at least a year in advance. This way you still have enough time to plan and get the vendors you want!

04. DON’T HIRE UNCLE JOE AS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

Please!! I beg of you! Do not hire a random person or family friend who has no experience to capture your wedding day. Coming from a photographer, I may be a bit biased but your photos are one of the most important aspects of your wedding besides the wedding itself. Research photographers in your area or the area you’re getting married. Look through their portfolios via Instagram, Facebook, or websites, and make sure you love their work. Ask if they have prior experience with weddings and any other concerns you may have.

05. MAKE A WEDDING WEBSITE

Making a wedding website or having someone build one for you is so convenient. Having a wedding website helps your guest navigate all the wedding plans and details. You can provide a tab for RSVP’s and even a honeyfund if you prefer. It’s the quickest way to see who will be attending and it provides them with plenty of info for your wedding. This website can be made through apps like Zola or The Knot!

“Kim was AND is amazing! She truly goes above and beyond for her clients! She was very flexible working with us, specifically battling unpredictable fall weather and helping us reschedule another available date due to the weather! The best part is that the entire experience was fun and super comfortable! Our pictures came out great and we were very very pleased with her work!
