Chicago Engagement Photos | Sabrina & Aaron’s Lakeview Fall Session

December 10, 2025

Chicago Engagement Photo inspo and locations

If you’re dreaming up engagement photos in Chicago that feel cozy, romantic, and effortless, Sabrina and Aaron’s Lakeview session is going to be your inspiration. Their October shoot had everything: The leaves on the trees were still green, the soft evening light, and outfits that were so perfectly styled they genuinely elevated every single photo. They even brought their cute pup for some photos too! I’m Kim, a Chicago wedding and engagement photographer with a love for modern, elegant, and effortless photographs.

Fall + Chicago + Engagement Photos = A Peak Combo

There’s just something about Chicago in the fall that never misses. And when you mix that with Lakeview, one of my absolute favorite neighborhoods to shoot in.. you get the perfect blend of natural charm and that quiet “neighborhood” feel couples love.

Tree-lined streets, pretty architecture, pops of fall color. Lakeview was basically showing off for us. Sabrina and Aaron fit into the vibe so naturally. Warm, relaxed, playful, and just the sweetest together. Their outfits? Literally the cherry on top.

Outfit Inspiration: What They Wore & Why It Worked

I could talk about their outfits all day because they nailed that “intentionally elevated but not overdone” look. Here’s what made their styling so good:

They chose pieces that photograph well. Soft layers, cozy textures, and neutral tones always read beautifully on camera.

They coordinated without matching. Think complementary colors that feel natural and polished instead of overly planned. Her cream sweater and skirt set perfectly layered with her long camel colored peacoat. He meshed well with her by wearing dark dress pants and a long sleeve collared shirt with cream and green striped patterns, their outfits complimented each other without feeling matchy matchy.

They dressed for the season. October in Chicago calls for warmth and texture, and they leaned into it perfectly.

They matched the vibe of the location. Lakeview’s classic, timeless feel pairs best with outfits that feel elevated yet relaxed.

When you put a little thought into your styling, your whole session feels more cohesive and elevated without ever looking “too much”. I’m a firm believer in two things when it comes to your photos: One, the location will set the mood. Two, your outfit will set the vibe. When you book with me, I can definitely send over some inspo and locations based on what you’re going for.

Why the Suburbs Are Secretly Amazing for Engagement Photos

Downtown Chicago is incredible, but the suburbs have their own magic especially if you want something more relaxed and personal. Lakeview gives you:

Quiet, intimate streets

Warm, timeless architecture

Little pops of color and texture

A natural, lifestyle-driven feel

If you love the idea of photos that feel editorial but still authentic to you, the suburbs (and Chicago’s north side neighborhoods like Lakeview) are so underrated.

A Few of My Favorite Chicago Suburb Spots

Since we shot in Lakeview, it only feels right to sprinkle in a few other suburb locations I absolutely love for engagement photos. These spots give you everything from cozy neighborhood charm to golden-hour fields:

Lakeview – City Vibes Without the Chaos

Classic Chicago streets, cute buildings, and the prettiest lakefront if you want a soft, beach/city moment.

Naperville Riverwalk

Bridges, water, gardens, brick paths, a perfect mix of nature with a touch of urban feel.

Oak Brook Forest Preserve

Tall grasses, dreamy fields, and sunset light that makes you look like you’re in a movie. This is perfect if you’re all in for nature.

Downtown Hinsdale

Clean, timeless, upscale. A perfect fit for couples wanting a classy, modern-suburban feel.

Evanston Lakefront

Some pretty architecture and peaceful lake views. Calm, romantic, and so easy to shoot at. Perfect if you’d like photos done near the water.

Planning Your Chicago Engagement Photos

Sabrina and Aaron are getting married at The Exchange in Chicago, and their engagement session was the sweetest way to celebrate this season of life before the big day. Their Lakeview session reminded me why I love photographing couples here. Chicago has this way of blending personality and charm into every neighborhood, making each session feel fresh and completely its own.

As a Chicago engagement and wedding photographer, I’m all about creating photos that feel elevated, intentional, and true to who you are. I want your session to feel relaxed, easy, and fun! Almost like a date night with my camera tagging along. The best moments always happen when you forget the camera is there and just fall into your natural rhythm together. Whether you’re dreaming of a cozy-yet-classy neighborhood session like this one, something nature-filled in the suburbs, or even a polished downtown look, I’m here for all of it.
